Is there anything more iconic in Warhammer 40,000 when taking a Land Raider?

Maximum armor.

Maximum firepower.

Total glory…

This week’s 40K podcast takes a look at this iconic tank and explores the two main ways we can use it on the table- attack vs. defense. I also look at the opportunity cost to field one (or two, or three) which is often not taken into account by players.

A land rider venerable and 5 custodians guards with sentinel blade+storm shield inside

I will say that with the conversion from hull points to wounds in 40K 8th, Land Raiders do last longer and can’t really be one shot taken down (for now)- which opens up the units that you put inside to more options like you mention.

Wish Chaos had a bit more diversity in that manner.

Indeed, having at least some customizing options for the Chaos variant would be nice. I still find it tough to put a land raider into my list unless it is the primary focus. However, filling it with a lord, a champion and a bunch of chosen (power weapons and chainswords) gives a decent dice pool with lots of rerolls, for a surprise delivery.

If I’m rolling the God Hammer (my hearts guilty pleasure), I like 5 shooty Terminators (for mowing down squishys – I find they do this better than lightning claws in the Raider) . If I go Redeemer(/Crusader) ; I still find 5 Hammer Terminators with a re-roll hits character (Chaplain for me) is still scary to most things. Love Land Raiders in 8th!

Totally sold on the chaplain re-roll, more and more I think shooty terminators might win out vs. dedicated assault.
