As a whole shooting has been boosted in 40K 8th edition- more units have lots more dice they are putting on the table.

In many ways the Space Marine Razorback got a HUGE boost from that, but what about the rules conversion from hull points to wounds?

In today’s Warhammer 40K Space Marine podcast we explore just why, in my humble opinion, the Space Marine Razorback is one of the now best units of 8th edition.

At the moment I run 2 alongside my 2 dakka Baals as a kind of mini mobile firebase. Their firepower is so good it performs well without any aura support and the threat saturation is great because opponents just can’t take down 4 mobile machine gun nests and deal with a stormraven full of death company, a furioso and terminators dropping down in their back field. I still run a squad of devs with missile launchers because I like the redundancy of roles it offers and they remain mostly untouched in the face of the other more aggressive threats.

The tl assault cannon razor back is so good I’m almost tempted to drop my dakka Baals and just run 3-4 with some more 5 man tacs packing a missile launcher and possible combi melta on the Sgt, the change to combi weapons has made the 5 man tac really shine and the razor back is just the perfect compliment to it. Overall I support your hypothesis, the razor back is back!

Ironically in the past GW didn’t really give any love to Blood Angels, but now I would say they are a Tier I army- Razorbacks + Baals as a base like you say + amazing dreads and Death Company.

I feel like Nurgle is almost not really a Chaos Space Marine army- CSM has been so generic for so long, this new Nurgle is a complete rewrite with new model and support from GW.
