Wings Of Glory WW I Starting Tactics

Knights of the sky, ready for honor and glory…

…the MOST important starting tactic of the game, regardless of plane.

Always have a wing man.

Never leave your wing man.

Easy to understand, but a few steps to implement on the tabletop- along with understanding how it stacks the rules in your favor.

Always keep your planes grouped together- flying side by side, or as a wedge so that multiple fields of fire overlap ahead of you.

Three planes, a center one, one on the left, and one on the right creates a large wedge/field of fire on the table. A larger area to *catch* opposing planes in during the shooting phase of the game.

This also increases your chance of being able to fire 2-3 planes on a single plane- literally stacking the damage deck, forcing a drew of multiple cards a turn, increasing the chance for non *0* damage cards.

Further as opposing planes look to maneuver, if they do slip out of the center of your wedge, there is at least a chance that one of your planes- one of the wing men on the side will at least be able to lay in some shots.

Don’t chase after planes- fly the wedge and let them come to you.

Easy to understand, but a few steps to implement on the tabletop- along with understanding how it stacks the rules in your favor.

If an enemy plane does slip behind you, don’t break the wedge, let one of your wing man planes/side planes slow down and slip behind the opposing plane.

Gentleman to your planes!
