Chain Of Command WW II: German Steel

British and German patrols skirmish in the French countryside. Each side probing for a potential breakthrough point.

British infantry form up behind a hedge row as a machine gun team sets up in a ruined farm house.

German infantry advance up the hill, setting up a firing line as both sides begin the attack.

British mortar teams zero in on the German position as the infantry line advances.

Shock begins to mount as the Germans pull back to regroup behind the hill, or so the British officers believe…

British junior officers order the advance to drive the Germans back…

Just as the Germans pull back the command is given, familiar the few in the unit who remember the Great War, charge over the hill and drive down to the advancing British, as two additional German units hiding in the woods reveal and open fire.
